Our work with the NHS - Infection control in hospitals

"We love Max and are thankful that finally that there is a campaign that is really this good - hand hygiene should be instilled in us all."

Jodie Winfield
Infection Prevention and Control Nurse, Wolverhampton City PCT

In addition to being potentially life threatening, it is estimated that healthcare acquired infections (HCAIs) cost the NHS around £1 billion every year. Correct hand washing and good hand hygiene are the best defence we have in preventing the spread of germs, infections and disease. Good hand hygiene can help save lives.

Working in partnership with the NHS, it is our aim to increase hand hygiene compliance and awareness through our patient safety tool The Max Guide to Hand Hygiene. By increasing hand hygiene compliance we can effectively reduce HCAIs. We are working with the NHS to develop a tool that will help to:

  • Increase patient satisfaction

  • Bring about reductions in errors

  • Improve clinical excellence

  • Bring reductions in long term costs

  • Assist, encourage and motivate staff

Since the launch of the Max Guide to Hand Hygiene in 2005 with Basildon and Thurrock University’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we have seen a significant increase in requests from the NHS Trusts to support various initiatives up and down the country.
